About the Flowers of Euphorbia monteiroi

Recently, Angolan Euphorbia monteiroi (Angola form) has started to bloom, and the display is absolutely stunning.(Fig1~2)

The blooming position is quite special. Besides the flower stalks growing from the top, they can actually sprout from the sides as well. If given more chances, maybe the whole plant will eventually be covered in blooms!

You can see the spatial relationship between the flowers and leaves in the photos(Fig4), which perfectly matches the scars left on the plant's surface(Fig5). Also, the bracts are usually 2 or 3, though sometimes 4.(Fig6~8)

They are monoecious, usually opening female flowers first, then male flowers. Because of the high humidity right now, there is no visible pollen. Some have already set seed after natural pollination, which you can refer to in the photos.(Fig9~14)

Overall, they put so much effort into blooming, with flower stalks reaching nearly half a meter tall—it's almost ridiculously high!(Fig15)
